Surprisly February 2020 Review

  • Surprisly February 2020 dress outfit

Peter Pan Collar Dress & Legging from Imps & Elfs – Estimated Value $40 (based on similar styles)

This is the "day out" outfit in my box. I'm having a hard time finding if this brand has its own website, and can't find this specific outfit, but based on similar items found online, I guesstimate a retail value of about $40. That being said, I really adore this outfit! The organic cotton fabric feels nice and thick and stretchy, and the print is little tiny fruits? I think? Apples, oranges, pears with smiling faces and arms and legs. Whatever it is, it's cute and I love the Peter Pan collar and the fact that the back closes with snaps all the way down. It's a cute detail. It fits her perfectly, too.

2-Piece T-Shirt and Legging Set, Pink Dove Print, from the Bonnie Mob – Retail Value ~$41 (£32)

This is the "play" outfit for this month. What an adorable outfit! I love the rainbow dove/peace-themed print. The organic fabric feels soft and almost slinky. One really cool thing about this outfit and brand is that they use a sustainable printing method! I didn't realize that traditional printing was particularly wasteful and harmful to the environment. This brand uses a process called "zero-D" printing that uses 90% less waste than traditional printing techniques and the small amount of water waste created actually goes to irrigate a vegetable garden on the factory's land!

Lavender Hedgehog Organic Cotton Zipper Pajama from Milkbarn – Retail Value $42

This is the "sleepy time" outfit in my box. The print is so cute but this was just way too small on my daughter. The tag says 3-6 month but I think this fits more like a true 3 month. Although, my daughter is quite long and the arms and legs fit pretty well – the problem is the body is too short for her. It was difficult to pull the shoulders up over hers to zip it. The other two outfits are 3-6 months and fit just fine. I'm so bummed!

I reached out to Surprisly about this problem and they responded quickly with the solution to send a replacement pajama and a prepaid package to return this too-small one. It arrived quickly and is a size up – you can see it below.

Included with the pajamas (as a set) was a drawstring bag made of the same fabric! The tag suggests it's perfect for wipes and up to 4 diapers. I love getting this as a little extra – what a cute way to keep spare diapers and wipes on hand. I can see myself using this to keep baby stuff together and easy-to-grab once my baby's a little older and I can switch from a formal diaper bag to a smaller purse again.

Milkbarn Organic Footed Romper in Rose Doe – Retail Value $34

Here's the replacement pajama that Surprisly sent me. It arrived very quickly and I love it! It's a size up, 6-9 months, And it fits her! She has some room to grow, for sure, but that just means she's got some time in it.

Verdict: I am really enjoying my Surprisly subscription. It's so fun that they specifically send three categories of outfits (playtime, snooze time, and day out). I have also been impressed with the quality of everything they have sent. The items I've received from them have been some of my favorites and are reached for over and over when dressing her. They've stood up to wear and washing really well and I can tell they'll last a long time. This is really important to me because I feel like I'm getting the quality I expect from the price of the box and the retail values of the brands they send. The priority here is truly high quality, exclusively natural materials, and sustainability. This month was the first time I've had any issues with the fit and I was quite satisfied with how quickly they turned around a replacement item for me.
